French Jewish School Shooting Suspect Killed In Police Raid (VIDEO)

Mohammed Merah, 23, the suspect in the shooting deaths of 3 young children and their teacher at a Jewish School and 3 French paratroopers in recent weeks, has been shot dead during a police raid after a 31-hour standoff.

Merah had confessed to killing all 7 people and had barricaded himself in his apartment.

During the standoff Merah was discussing a possible surrender but had stopped communicating. When police entered the apartment, Merah came out of the bathroom shooting at police and jumped out of the window. Merah was shot in the head by a police sniper after he tried to escape.

Three police officers were injured, one seriously, during the raid.

A video was found in Merah's apartment which apparently was a recording of all the shootings.

Merah's motives for the shootings were the deaths of Palestinian children in Gaza and an opposition to France's role in the NATO peacekeeping mission in Afghanistan.

Merah had also claimed to have trained in jihadi camps in Afghanistan and Pakistan as recently as 2011.
