US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has announced that a month-long nationwide crackdown on child pornography has resulted in 190 arrests and 18 children being rescued.

Operation Orion targeted individuals who possessed, received, transported, distributed, advertised or produced images of child pornography.

The majority of the arrests occurred in the US but also included arrests in Argentina, Britain, the Philippines, and Spain.

According to ICE, many of the child exploitation cases began with a youth communicating with a stranger online.

In the 2012 fiscal year, ICE investigated over 3,000 cases of child exploitation and have made 1,455 arrests.
