Tomas Lopez, the Florida lifeguard who was fired for leaving his post to rescue a man struggling in an unprotected beach area, was offered his job back.

The private company that is contracted to provide lifeguard services said they confirmed Lopez's post was not left unattended, therefore, he should not have been fired.

Lopez refused to take his job back and said the company is only offering because the story went public.

Six other beach lifeguards said they would have done the same as Lopez and have now quit in protest. The company said they may also return to their jobs if they want them.
