The USS James E . Williams saved 10 sailors from a burning Iranian-flagged ship in the Gulf of Oman.

The Navy says the sailors, 8 Iranians and 2 Pakistanis, were picked up out of the water and are receiving medical care. They will soon be sent home.

Such rescues are not uncommon for US Navy ships in Middle East waters. Earlier this year, the US Navy rescued 13 Iranians from a fishing boat that had been hijacked by 15 Somali pirates who were taken into custody.
