The Mitt Romney campaign took elaborate steps to keep his running mate choice, Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI), hidden from the press.

Beth Myers, Romney's adviser tasked with handling the vice-presidential search as well as keeping it secret for 4 months, detailed the covert process that took place.

To ensure that Ryan could secretly meet with Romney, Ryan flew from Chicago to Hartford, Connecticut and was driven by Myers' 19-year-old son to the Myers home in Massachusetts.

When Ryan emerged from the hour-long meeting, he was notified of the Sikh Temple shooting in his Wisconsin district and the campaign decided to postpone the VP announcement by one day.

After Ryan attended the memorial service on Friday, he returned home and walked out the back door through the woods, where he was picked up by his aide who then drove him to a chartered plane in Illinois completely undetected.

Ryan then flew to North Carolina and the next day he was driven to Norfolk, Virginia where the announcement was made on Saturday.

I like reading the news, but I dislike reading terribly written stories full of bad puns.
