A drone pilot hobbyist spotted a river of blood coming from a meat packing plant in Dallas after reviewing captured images from the flight using a point and shoot camera and a $75 airframe. The images triggered federal and state agencies to investigate the plant for environmental violations.
The agencies confirmed that pig blood was being discharged into a nearby creek through an underground pipe from the back of the plant. The plant has remained open during the ongoing investigation. The district attorney’s office has not said what charges the plant may face for allegedly having an unauthorized underground bypass.
According to local news cameras, the creek no longer appears to have pig blood flowing into it.
